Phoebos Apollon M. Bolaris (1990-2017)

Class of 2005
Phoebos-Apollon began attending Plato Academy at the age of 3 1/2. After graduation he attended Glenbrook South High School. He continued his education as a History and Philosophy major at the University of Loyola Chicago before transfering to study Classics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He graduated with a B.A. in the Classics, specializing in Ancient Greek (with a minor in Modern Greek), in May 2015. Phoebos had a passion for ancient languages: Ancient Greek, Sanskrit and Latin and he also spoke French, Russian, Persian (Farsi) and Modern Greek. He loved history, geography, languages, politics and current events. He was always following events in Greece, the Balkans, Russia/Central Asia and the Middle East. Phoebos attended the Moscow State Institute of International Relations/MGIMO-University where he received a Master’s Degree. The dreams of this brilliant mind were cut off shortly by his sudden death of a heart attack days before his graduation. Phoebos experienced more…saw more…and achieved more than most people can dream in a lifetime.

The Phoebos Apollon M. Bolaris Scholarship has been established in his memory.
